Pigments
The kit includes 29.6 cc (1 ounce) each of Glauconite, Glauconite (Olive), Goethite (Brown Ochre), Hematite, Hematite (Cold) (Caput Mortum), Gold Ochre, Red Ochre, Shungite (Carbon Black), Raw Sienna, Malachite and Vivianite (Blue Ochre) -- all packaged in individual bottles. These historical pigments represent the basic set of hues used in many ancient Russian icons. They are also specified by many icon painting instructors, such as Vladislav Andrejev, for their workshops. The kit includes all the popular palette colors: blue, green, yellow, red, brown and black. The pigments come in an boxed set that makes an excellent starter kit to painting icons, as an introduction to making your own paints, or as a great gift for the icon student.
