Description:
Gamblin Stand Oil 8 oz glass bottle (237 ml)
Gamblin Stand Oil is polymerized refined linseed oil produced from North American flax seeds. After linseed oil has been refined by neutralizing the free acidity, it is heated in a vacuum until it thickens. Stand oil, invented in the nineteenth century, replaced Venice turpentine and sun thickened linseed oil in painting mediums. Stand oil leaves an enamel-like finish.

Adding only stand oil increases the tendency of oil paintings to wrinkle (alligator) and slows down the drying time. Adding 10 percent by volume of stand oil to alkyd painting mediums increases the viscosity of the alkyd medium and slows down the drying time.

Use turpentine, spike oil or mineral spirits as the solvent for oil painting mediums and for brush and studio clean up.

CAUTION: Store oily rags in a metal container.

Warning: Read carefully cautions from the label of this product.

Availability: Usually ships within 24 hours.
