Description:
Hardens glue and starch sizes. Spray a solution of alum and water onto rabbit skin glue or onto gesso to harden it or add directly to size.
For size, use 10 grams for each 100 grams of dry glue. Soak the alum in water, heat until completely dissolved and add to the glue solution.
For pre-treating wool, use 250 grams for every 1 kiloggram of wool. First dissolve the alum in water, then cook with the wool before adding plant dyes.
