This icon pattern book (Volume 1 of 2) is a supplement to An Iconographer's Patternbook, and was originally published in the late 19th century from ancient originals, containing podlinnik -- patterns -- of classic and ancient Russian icon models of Saints of the Orthodox Church, and especially of Christ and the Virgin Mary. Expert introductory and bibliographic information from G. Melnick, editor of An Iconpainter's Notebook. This is an excellent source book for the painter of Wedding icons (Christ and Theotokos) since one can pair up a set from the many types. Also wonderful for Patron Saint or "Family" icon groupings.

Availability: This book is temporarily out of print, but is expected to be preprinted in Fall 2004.
