Saint Luke Writes the First Icon of the Mother of God
|
The student experiences all aspects of icon writing, from the preparation of the icon with wooden boards, animal glue-based gesso, to gold leaf gilding, grinding pigments, and writing the icon with egg tempera. Protoypes are limited to Russian 13th-16th century icons, and Greek icons of the 14th-16th centuries. Small ongoing classes for students of all levels of experiences meet weekly, Mondays and Tuesdays, in Meriden, Ct., located between Hartford and New Haven. Requests for commissions for hand-written icons are welcome. |
