Vadim Parilov is from a family of icon painters that established a workshop in the 19th century. Part of the latest generation of icon painters, Vadim Parilov was born in Palekh, and in 1970 entered the Palekh Art School. In 1974, he met his future wife, Olga Yerofeyeva from Severomorsk, Murmansk, who also graduated from Palekh Art School.
Olga and Vadim established their studio in 1989 as part of a dynasty of family workshops, working together on many projects so that many are signed with both their names. For Palekh, especially in former times, this was a characteristic feature where usually not more than two artists carried out the portion of the work they possessed the most skill. |
