Icon and fresco painting school at "St. Georgios" workshop in Niksic, Serbia and Montenegro provides three month school of traditional methods of Serbian-Byzantine iconography (13-14th centuries), which include Byzantine drawings, preparation of linden panels with keys, traditional gesso recipes, gilding,understending and working with egg tempera, using historic and contemporary pigments, making own pigments and varnishes, learning old fresco method of wall painting, through various ways of making plasters and lime proof pigments, study of theology of Orthodox icons and all of that with blessing of our bishop of Budimljansko-Niksic eparchy (Serbian Orthodox Church) Mr. Joanikije (Micovic) and spiritual leadership of "House of St.Bassilus of Ostrog" in Niksic. This course is guided by PhD. icon painter Boris Markus from Serbian Orthodox Church "Academy for conservation of Serbian art" in Belgrade. Three month school (12 working days per 1 month) costs $300, which includes all materials needed for work. |
